No Tuna, but a happy fisherman none the less

Tuna Fishing Charter

Last Saturday we had Peter and his mates from Melbourne and Geelong join us for what was a trying day chasing tuna. With rough seas we tried to lure the tuna, but it was not our day.

To give the boys a bit of a go we ended up bottom bouncing for a short time in about 100m of water - coming up with a mixed bag of Morwong, Snapper, Nannagai, Rock Cod, Pike and Couta. The boys all took home some fish to eat and enjoyed the opportunity to catch some fish, even if it wasn't the sought after tuna.

As every fisherman knows “that is fishing”

Tuna Fishing Charter

After a slow weekend of fishing last weekend we had high hopes for today and we were not dissapointed.

We got onto the Tuna again today with Peter and his group from Melbourne. With a fairly brisk northerly blowing offshore we had a rather cool winters day on the water but the lads were kept warm reeling in Tuna! The group managed to fill their needs of Tuna. They will be enjoying Tuna for a few months to come.

We welcomed back a keen fisherman for the fourth time-it was great to have him on the boat again.

Thanks to Jason our Deckie who makes things run smoothly on the fishing side.

Saturday 17th June

Tuna Fishing Charter

Last Saturday we headed out with a group in search of Tuna. Michael had booked the charter and was bringing along his father, who was formaly a charter operator in New Zealand. We had favorable weather conditions which made for a pleasant day in the water.

The Tuna made us work hard and whilst we could see signs of them, we had very little luck managing to hook one. We finished the day with just one school sized Tuna, caught by Michael. His father on the other hand spent most of the day in the wheelhouse with Captain Barry, chatting all things boats and fishing.

Unfortunatley we are in for a wild and windy weekend on the sea - so we will not be running any charters this weekend (24th-25th June) there are more booked in on coming weekends so give Mary Ann a call to book a place 0429983112

A weekend of Tuna Fishing

Tuna Fishing Charters

Last weekend we had two full days of Tuna Fishing booked in and we had everything crossed for good weather. Thankfully we were able to head out both days and catch some fish.

Saturday we had calm seas and after a fresh start the sun shone down on us. Onboard we had a group of men eager to land some Tuna. Whilst we had to work mighty hard to get onto them, come the end of the day everyone on board had landed a good school sized Tuna and headed home with a future feed of Tuna!

Sunday the seas weren't quite so kind to us and whilst they weren't wild and we were able to go ahead, there was a bit of chop that caused some people on board to get Sea Sick. We had a family of 4 tourists and a second group of 2 from Ballarat. Again the Tuna made us work for them, but everyone went home happy after each group on board landed 2 Tuna.

We were pleased to receive an email the next day from the family who got a little unwell, thanking us for the day and saying how much they enjoyed! Obviously catching fish outweighed the shaky sea legs.

Thank you all for joining us on your Tuna Fishing Charters, we hope you enjoyed yourselves and cook up some lovely Tuna dishes!

A hard earned catch of Tuna

Tuna Fishing Charter

On Sunday, with a frosty morning start, we headed out to catch some Tuna off Port Fairy. We managed one early hook up  but from then on we had to work a little harder.

At midday we still hadn't managed to get another hook up but with a bit more perservance we got onto another school and soon had the numbers to satisfy our group.

For most on board it was their first Tuna experience and all left happy after they had caught atleast one Tuna each.

The group enjoyed their trip back to the wharf, sitting in the warm cabin - on our comfortable lounges enjoying a quiet drink. The perfect way to end a successful days fishing!
